Department Description:  

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions has the privilege and responsibility of being the primary point of contact for students seeking admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as undergraduates. In its role evaluating first-year and transfer students, the office works tirelessly to identify, recruit, admit, and welcome students who will positively contribute to our campus, state, and nation. The office also supports students by providing academic counseling, sponsors hundreds of events encouraging students to further their education, and works to enhance the image of the University locally and nationally. Members of the office understand that their work is intensely public and is closely followed by students and their families; secondary-school teachers and administrators; University faculty and staff; lawmakers; and media.

Position Discription:  

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks innovative and accomplished candidates for the position of Events Coordinator. The position helps to define the marketing strategy; develop, plan, and execute high-visibility events for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid, and the Carolina College Advising Corps; assist with scheduling visit programs on-campus, off-campus and virtually; support the communications team’s efforts to identify, interview and articulate stories that are shared electronically and in printed brochures; manage event setup and visit communications in Technolutions Slate; provide great care to all prospective students, families, and other visitors to the office and at events; and perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Occasional evening and weekend work will be required to ensure events are effectively managed.

This position will report directly to the Senior Assistant Director for Communications and will serve as part of a team of communications professionals who define the marketing plan and messaging and develop print and electronic communications for prospective students and families.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:  

Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills; and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of colleagues and students are required. Additionally, successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to: plan, create, and oversee welcoming and inclusive events for various audiences; manage event-related communications; work well with students, parents, and educators, treating all with great care; effectively prioritize work and manage time; and demonstrate the ability to pay close attention to details.

Preferred Qualifications:  

Experience with Technolutions Slate or comparable CRM application and Microsoft applications is preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications:  

Qualifications and Experience:  

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
