Summary
The Facilities Services Department at Union College is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and team oriented individual to fill the position of HVAC Systems Technician. The qualified candidate will possess the knowledge, skills, and ability necessary to achieve organizational objectives and exercise ethical behavior, while working in a diverse educational environment. The candidate, working under the direction of the Supervisor for HVAC & Controls, will perform journeyman level work in the operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of various heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC), as well as refrigeration systems for all College properties, both commercial and residential.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, and completion of an Associates’ Degree in HVAC and/or apprenticeship program, plus a minimum of three to five years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in commercial, institutional, and residential applications. Knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, and how the systems function together to ensure proper operation and maintenance procedures are followed. Must possess proficient knowledge and use of performing LOTO when working on equipment, a valid Universal EPA refrigerant certification, as well as a valid New York State driver’s license, the ability to read and interpret blue prints and schematics, and basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Gmail. Must also possess effective decisional, negotiating, team building, and leadership/mentoring skills, while also having excellent verbal, written, presentation, and listening skills. Experience with building management systems (BMS), including but not limited to Johnson Controls (Metasys), Automated Logic, and Honeywell is a plus
