The Setnor School of Music within the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University invites applicants for a non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor in Music Industry, beginning Fall 2023. The position offers a 3-year renewable contract based on exemplary performance and University need. We are seeking an innovative and inspiring music industry specialist to teach core curriculum courses in music business; music industry and the media; oversee music industry forums; coordinate and mentor student internships; participate in curriculum planning, assessment, and new course development. 

The Music Industry program at Setnor is renowned for its 40 years of placing highly qualified graduates in every aspect of the business.

Service obligations include academic advising for music industry majors and minors and participation in governance and service to the institution.

Master’s degree in music or business with documented recent music business experience of at least 5 years OR a bachelor’s degree in music and at least 10 years of recent music business experience at the very highest level. Experience in commercial composition and/or songwriting a plus.
