The Research Foundation at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full time RF: Genetics Lab Manager.

Compensation: $45,000-$60,000 commensurate with experience plus full Research Foundation benefits package.

Description of Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will lead laboratory and research functions in Dr. Nick Sard's lab at SUNY Oswego. Responsibilities include assisting in research projects to ensure quality data collection and analysis, ordering supplies, monitoring inventories, as well as maintaining databases and sample repositories. In addition, the lab manager will actively contribute to research projects. Expected research activities include extracting and quantifying DNA from samples and genotyping extracted samples using standard techniques such as PCR (endpoint and quantitative), Sanger sequencing, microsatellite genotyping, metabarcoding, GT-seq, RAD-seq, RAD-Capture (RAPTURE), etc. Training associated with specific protocols will be provided as needed. Many projects in the lab are associated with Great Lakes environmental issues, such as restoring the native fish community, providing data related to managing non-native top predators, studying invasive species population dynamics, and detecting rare species using environmental DNA sampling methods. The successful candidate will be a Research Foundation employee with full benefits. The work schedule associated with this position is flexible. Finally, there are opportunities to write grants and teach - pending applicant interests.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
The successful applicant must have at least a bachelor's degree in biology, zoology, genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, or similar fields with expertise in genetic techniques. The applicant must have experience in the development and/or the application of genotyping techniques, experimental design and analysis, and database management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Good written and oral communication skills and experience sampling in the field, particularly in aquatic systems.
