Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Repairing, maintaining, removing and/or replacing: radiators, water pumps, and coolant hoses. alternators and regulators. steering components and hoses. brake drums and shoes. liquid and air filters. suspension components. gauges. lights (interior and exterior). wheel bearings and seals. door assemblies and controls. electric motors. pneumatic valves. control cables and linkages. Assigns/directs coach movement to Garage Helper/Bus Washer with proper CDL. Ensuring the company has the safest buses placed in service, and are free of mechanical defects with all installed equipment in working order. Conducting diagnostic, repair and routine services of our fleet. Changing tires on buses and support vehicles. Repairing gas/diesel AC systems.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Six months of experience in servicing and maintenance work on Buses, heavy equipment or more. Technical college training in diesel or medium to heavy-duty equipment mechanics may be substituted for experience. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered. Including:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have or be able to obtain a CDL license
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
- ASE Diesel Certifications Strongly preferred
- Must furnish all small hand tools required to perform the functions specified above
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation: Operate a variety of automotive machines, mechanics tools, and equipment such as wrecker, A/C recovery recycler, injector tester, brake bleeder, various meters and gauges, tire machine, tire spreader, plasma cutter, service truck, sledgehammer, wrenches, cutting torch, hydraulic and airlift, engine hoist, and stands, wheel dolly, drill press, tire iron, etc. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to thirty-five to fifty pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active work. Must be able to lift and/or carry the weight of fifty to one hundred pounds.
