Royal Regency Inn, Rock Hill, SC 29730 is looking for a pleasant Night Front Desk Representative to undertake all receptionist and clerical duties at the desk of our main entrance. You will be the “face” of the company for all visitors and will be responsible for the first impression we make.
Motel Front Desk Clerk skills and qualifications:
A successful Motel Front Desk Clerk should have various prerequisite skills and qualification, including:
- Computer knowledge: Basic knowledge of computers is required as a Hotel Front Desk Clerk. Hotel clerks will often use computers to check in guests, create invoices and manage online bookings.
- Communication: Strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills are important as a Hotel Front Desk Clerk. Hotel clerks will use active listening skills to understand the individual needs of each customer. They will also use nonverbal skills to identify a guest's satisfaction or dissatisfaction with their stay.
- Customer service: Customer service skills are a requirement as a Hotel Front Desk Clerk. Front desk clerks work with guests when checking in, checking out and when guests request information from the front desk.
- Problem-solving: Guests will often come to the Hotel Front Desk Clerk with problems. The ability to identify and overcome a problem can be useful in the Hotel Front Desk Clerk role.
- Strong work ethics: Punctuality, professionalism, and friendly behavior with others. Hard working and dedicated towards work.
Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Greet/welcome guest with smile and friendly nature.
- Ask guest about what type of room, number of people and nights will be staying.
- Inform guest regarding motel rules and policies.
- Check in guest using computer and motel check in software.
- Ask guests for their picture government IDs/passport for check-in.
- Scan IDs using special ID scanner or scan and print others forms of IDs using printer.
- Making sure guest check-in using their own IDs and not others.
- Enter all the information about the guest in the motel check-in system.
- Making sure to collect right amount of cash and giving right amount of change to guest.
- Guest paying using credit/debit: making sure name on credit/debit card is same as on their IDs.
- Enter or scan credit/debit card number and expiration correctly in the system.
- Charge guest using credit/debit card using card terminal.
- Get the guest to sign the credit/debit receipt.
- Print guest folio and ask them to sign all policies.
- Make guest room keys using key terminal.
- Inform guest of check-out time and fees for late check-out.
- Direct guest to their room and inform them of all motel amenities.
- Answer all phones and inform about availability, rates, and motel policies.
- Check online reservation when starting shift.
- Charge online reservation according to the payment and cancellation policies mentioned online.
- Open online credit/debit card details and charge card using motel card terminal.
- Marking cards decline or other reasons as it appears online.
- Enter online reservation which are successfully charged in the motel check-in system using details from online reservation.
- Set up breakfast before 6:00 am and keep breakfast and lobby clean.
- Audit all check-ins for the day and make necessary changes before 6:00 am.
Motel Front Desk Clerk education and training requirements
- Minimum High school diploma.
- Relevant industries experience includes sales, customer service and computers.
- Paid on-the-job training for two days for minimum six hours.
Other job details
- Night shift from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
- Two part-time positions available.
