The Yardman/Yardperson performs a wide variety of manual labor tasks with varying day-to-day work assignments. A Yardman position is an entry-level position at the Phillips 66 Borger Refinery with progression into Operator positions. Starting rate of pay for a Yardman position is $22.70/hour with top progression within the Yardman classification after 18 months making $28.77/hour.
This position requires successful completion of aptitude and behavioral testing and an on-site interview. Candidates who receive an offer of employment will then be required to successfully complete a pre-employment due diligence process that consists of things like a background check, medical, hearing, respiratory and vision exams and agility testing.

Responsibilities May Include
-
Installing and removing of piping and piping components
-
Using large tools, both manual and pneumatic
-
Climbing heights to perform repair/maintenance work on towers, tanks, and vessels
-
Operating motorized and manual equipment
-
Using piping and structural drawings for installation and demolition
-
Performing work activities that include pulling, lifting, twisting, working in confined spaces, and on elevated platforms requiring fall protection
-
Entering and retrieving computer data as well as data analysis
-
Using fire equipment when necessary along when many other general maintenance activities
Position Requirements
Basic/Required:
-
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
-
Must be at least 18 years of age
-
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
-
Must have 2 or more years of recent continuous full-time work experience
-
Willingness to perform/comply with the following:
-
Work at least an 8-hour shift and up to a 12-hour shift, which includes some weekends, holidays and nights
-
Assume on-call responsibilities
-
Work overtime
-
Work in enclosed spaces, such as tanks and silos
-
Work near large, hot, high-speed machines
-
Climb up to 250 feet in height
-
Lift up to 50 pounds
-
Workaround chemicals, including acids and bases
-
Wear fire-retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection)
-
Maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
-
Perform firefighting duties
-
Work outside in harsh weather conditions
-
Work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and heat
-
Able to read at a level to understand written safety procedures, work procedures, work permits, instruction manuals

Learn computer software associated with process operations
Preferred:
-
Associate's degree or Technical certification in Process Technology from an accredited school
-
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Physics or other sciences
-
Must have 3 or more years of industry related experience OR 4 or more years of military experience
-
Military certifications that are process operations related
-
3 or more years of experience working as a process operator, maintenance or technician in a refinery, chemical, power, nuclear, wastewater treatment, or pharmaceutical industry

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
-
Strong oral / written communication skills and the ability to interact and work in a team environment

Accepts ownership, is accountable and delivers on commitments
The Borger Refinery is located in Borger, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle, approximately 50 miles north of Amarillo, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units, as well as an NGL fractionation facility. The refinery processes primarily medium sour crude oil produced locally, and heavy sour crude oil produced in Canada, all of which are delivered by pipeline. Borger produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petroleum coke, NGLs and solvents. Refined products are distributed to customers via pipelines from the refinery to West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and the Midcontinent region.
