The Team You’ll Work With:

The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives ensures that City government solves problems through holistic, accountable, and transparent means.  With a focus on many of the administration’s top priorities – from creating opportunities for young people to strengthening the city’s civic infrastructure – the office works in partnership with stakeholders inside and outside of city government to develop, scale, coordinate, and deliver policies, plans and operations in an equitable and sustainable way. 

The Deputy Mayor also oversees the following agencies and offices: the Department of Youth and Community Development, the Office of Food Policy, the Office of Non-Profit Services, the Office of Childcare and Early Childhood Education, the Center for Innovation through Data Intelligence, the Office of Youth Employment, the Children’s Cabinet, and the Commission on Gender Equity.

 

The Problems You’ll Solve: 

  • Coordinating the implementation of agency projects, policy infrastructure and research agenda.
  • Organizing the regular meetings of interagency partners and helping to drive the Deputy Mayor’s agenda.
  • Supporting the development of policies and identifying strategic plans, including key initiatives, work-plans, and deliverables.
  • Managing working groups of agency staff focused on expanding and improving the technical structures that allow agencies to share data, coordinate services and improve program outcomes.
  • Creating alignment between policies, practices, and regulations across agencies.
  • Establishing clear and consistent communications with internal and external stakeholders, communicating goals, timelines, and deliverables.

 

About You:

  • You will have a BA degree from an accredited college in public policy, law, social work, psychology, sociology.
  • You will have 4-8 years of work experience.
  • You will be well-versed in policy analysis, research, project management, written communication and public speaking are all valued traits for this role.
  • You have experience leading and managing multiple complex projects in a fast-paced setting.
  • You can think creatively, embrace new approaches and pioneer innovative solutions to intricate problems, while working collaboratively with a diverse constituency You are flexible and have a creative approach to making plans, using resources, and solving problems.
  • You are a problem solver who makes decisions in a timely manner.
  • You are results-driven and self-motivated.

 

Salary:

The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role is $90,000 - $100,000.
