Assistant Minister of Music
Mt. Prospect Baptist Church is seeking an Assistant Minister of Music to support all aspects of our music ministry. The position reports to the Personnel Committee with day to day direction from the Minister of Music. The Assistant Minister of Music is responsible for carrying out the vision of Sunday morning worship services as well as special services and events as directed by the Minister of Music. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for communications, scheduling and training of the Praise Team, band and the Youth Choir.
Specific Responsibilities:
Sunday morning service planning
- Coordinate details of worship service with the Minister of Music and communicate to all involved participants.
- Ensure all music and other service elements have been distributed to all participants
- Manage the Mt. Prospect Praise Team (or other assigned ensemble or choir)
- Praise and Worship leader
- Coordinate and communicate with AV, Media, or other supportive ministries regarding details of the worship service
Music preparation
- Organize rehearsal schedule for Praise Team and youth choir (or other assigned group or choir) distribute music, cds, and etc. in a timely manner
- Copy and distribute weekly rehearsal music, lyric sheets, or other needed materials in a timely manner
- Come to rehearsal fully prepared to teach and facilitate rehearsals for worship services
Administrative Duties
- Assist the Minister of Music with communications to music ministry and musicians
- Scheduling and coordination of musicians for worship scheduling
- Coordinate and assist in planning of special services and events
- Other duties as assigned by Minister of Music
Qualifications:

- Must be faithful in prayer and have a deep passion for Christian worship
- Must demonstrate integrity in all aspects of life including academic, intellectual, spiritual, moral and financial
- Self-motivated leader with the ability to multi-task with ease
- Strong interpersonal and relational skills
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Must possess communication skills to work equally well with the various age groups involved with our music program
Education & Experience:
- Experience in music ministry
- Experience with playing a Hammond organ, piano, and keyboard (preferred but not required)
- Experience in church ministry leadership and worship planning required
- Possess the ability to sight read and play by ear (preferred but not required)
- Ability to teach music parts and develop new voices and new song leaders
- Formal music education (preferred but not required)
Additional Requirements:
Attendance Policy
- Employee will provide two weeks’ notice to Minister of Music and Chairperson of the Personnel Committee prior to absence from rehearsals or worship services
- Employee will ensure all areas of responsibility are covered prior to absence
- Employee will attend scheduled rehearsals, meetings, pertinent to the functioning of the Mt. Prospect Music Ministry
Salary
Commensurate with experience and church budget.
