Business Manager

The Business Manager is responsible for ensuring proper accounting of all school monies in all funds according to state school laws and the district's own policies and procedures.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain records on all fund monies
- Assure proper application of state laws regarding school monies
- Assure proper application of the school’s policies and procedures for school monies
- Oversee and approve accounting of all revenues and encumbrances
- Act as Deputy Treasurer
- Act as Deputy Encumbrance Clerk
- Act as Activity Fund Custodian
- Maintain and process all payrolls and payroll reports
- Prepare projected fund balances estimating current year income and expenses
- Assist in preparing school budget
- Prepare financial reports monthly, quarterly, and annually
- Provide records for preparation of Estimate of Needs
- Monitor appropriations
- Coordinate investments
- Supervise business office
- Approve leave, develop and monitor budget(s), recruit, interview and present faculty and staff employment recommendations to the Superintendent
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting or other related area
- Preference given to Certified Public Accountant
- Maintain required continuing education hours for treasurers and encumbrance clerks
- Possess at a minimum 5 years’ financial experience with preference given to school financial experience
- Qualify for Certified School Business Administrator
- Have or be able to obtain membership with Oklahoma Association of School Business Officials
- Possess advanced experience with MS Excel
Working conditions
The Business Manager typically works in an office environment, but the mission of the school may require work in other workplaces. A standard workweek is required, but additionally may often require evening and weekend hours to accommodate activities such as Board meetings and representation of Great Plains at public events. Prolonged sitting at a computer station is required.

Required qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a related area; 5 years accounting experience; advanced experience with MS Excel.
Preferred qualifications: CPA; Certified School Business Official Administrator; experience supervising personnel; 5 years’school finance experience.
