The Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work’s mission is to improve health, health equity, and the wellbeing of local, national, and global populations through education, research, and partnerships that are innovative and transformative. The college’s academic disciplines—public health, dietetics and nutrition, social work, and disaster preparedness—are advancing research and practices to realize this mission, bringing students and faculty to the forefront of their fields. According to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research, the college ranks 16th in the nation for public health schools at public universities receiving National Institutes of Health (NIH) research funding. In its 2023 Graduate Program Rankings, U.S. News & World Report ranked Stempel College’s School of Public Health at No. 39 and its School of Social Work at No. 49 among public universities.

Uniquely located in Miami, Florida, at the gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, Stempel College faculty are working daily to solve complex health and social welfare problems affecting underserved populations, including brain health, environmental health issues, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, mental health outcomes, and racial/ethnic disparities.

The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is one of eight (8) departments within the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work. The mission of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is to prepare practitioners and applied researchers in dietetics, food, and nutrition to build a healthier society. The Department offers a bachelor’s (2-tracks; the Didactic Program in Dietetics is intended for students interested in becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist; the nutrition science track is designed for students interested in other health professions), master’s and doctoral degree in dietetics and nutrition along with a graduate certificate in pediatric nutrition. The Department also houses a graduate Dietetic Internship Program. The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®) accredits two programs within the department. The department is seeking to hire 2 Assistant Professors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. PhD in Dietetics and Nutrition or closely related field from an accredited institution
  2. Evidence of ability or potential to develop an independent research program and secure external funding
  3. Strong record of publication in peer-reviewed journals
  4. Demonstrated teaching proficiency
  5. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Postdoctoral experience
  2. Registered Dietitian

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Establish an independent, externally-funded research program
  2. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to nutrition, dietetics and food science
  3. Train and mentor graduate students and
  4. Participate in departmental, college, and university service.
