Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Enterprise Applications Engineer, Lead, Boca Raton, FL.
The Lead Enterprise Applications Engineer provides leadership, planning, and communications: Serves as a technical leader and, along with the team, owns a portfolio of SaaS, custom and on-premise applications.
The Lead Enterprise Applications Engineer leads or co-leads interactions with functional leaders, end users, vendors, management, and developers with the purpose of gaining an understanding of various applications used at the University.
Summary of Responsibilities Include:
- Assists the Associate Director of Enterprise Applications and acts on their behalf when necessary.
- Works closely with the Software Development team, setting up environments so these are ready for development. This may include but it is not limited to, installing and configuring: apache, tomcat, nginx, ruby, IIS, .Net Framework, Oracle clients, SQL clients, MYSQL clients and learns about other development environment tools like docker, Jenkins, etc.
- Installs, configures, and maintains all components of multi-tier enterprise applications installed on-premises, in a private cloud, or public cloud.
- Works closely with the Systems Administration team and assists with the migration of applications from on-premises and cloud Linux/Microsoft servers to new upgraded environments. Applications may be custom, or vendor owned.
- Works with the Cyber Security team ensuring that applications have the right firewall permissions in place and are securely deployed.
- Troubleshoots application incidents and monitors applications to ensure they are healthy. In addition, reports detailed software bugs to the Software Development team when encountered.
- Working with the team, maintains and is the administrator for select Enterprise Software as a Service (SaaS), and local platforms and applications. This may include applications like Hyland Onbase, iPaaS Snaplogic, Appworx, CA Harvest Change Manager, Webfocus, Banner, etc.
- Assesses business requirements, evaluating possible solutions with the application portfolio in place, and evaluates new applications providing recommendations.
- Works on incidents, service requests, change requests and projects, communicating with university users when necessary, using the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) platform.
- Works directly with vendor support to migrate, upgrade or troubleshoot applications maintained by the Enterprise Applications team.
- Uses proper change management methods to ensure all changes to applications do not disrupt the business or are of minimal impact.
- Creates documentation, training, and standards for the various applications within the Enterprise Applications team portfolio.
- Works with Software Development and Systems to create sandbox/test environments for evaluation purposes.
- With the help of the Associate Director of Enterprise Applications, provides guidance and leadership to other Enterprise Application Engineers on the team.
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and five years of appropriate experience required.
