Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) is the central agency that supports enterprise-wide computing at East Carolina University. ITCS, through innovative information technology initiatives and service, provides opportunities for the ECU community to excel in teaching, research, and service using state-of-the-market technology and collaborative environments. Network Engineering and Support team is responsible for the installation, deployment, maintenance, and automation of various network services, including enterprise-level network systems or services that are part of, affect or influence the enterprise network infrastructure. This team assists in developing the overall network design and will engage them for consultation services on major network issues and design changes that significantly impact or influence network performance.
As a network engineer/administrator, you handle these tasks:
- Day-to-day management, deployment, and maintenance, of enterprise-level network services
- Configuration, installation, tuning, and maintenance of the wired and wireless campus network
- Utilize various monitoring tools to determine network performance and enhancements
- Manage small to medium sized projects related to implementation of network infrastructure
- Maintain strategic technology partnerships with university departments and contacts
- Remain current on software or hardware changes and plan changes appropriately

We are looking for a candidate with these preferred skills:
- Basic knowledge of the principles, protocols, and practices of entry level networking
- Hands-on experience with Cisco infrastructure and network administration tools and software
- Experience with various networking protocols, wiring, and network management solution
- Cisco CCT, CCNA and or other Cisco certifications current within the last 5 years
- Ability to manage short and long-term projects with moderate complexity
