POSITION SUMMARY:
The position of Licensure Professional is responsible for supporting, implementing, and executing all components and requirements of the certificated licensure renewal process for Columbus City Schools, including any related state mandates, district policies, Local Professional Development Committee guidelines, and contractual agreements. The Licensure Professional will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure organized and systematic processes for licensure renewal of certificated staff.
Examples of Work
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Support, advise, and guide the district’s certificated staff through the licensure renewal process
- Verify licensure requirements and sign all certificated renewal Professional License applications, under authority of the Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC), through the Ohio Department of Education
- Review attendance and award Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for all district professional development through the Columbus City Schools (CCS) PD System (PDS), under authority of the LPDC
- Review and approve professional development proposals in the PDS for district and out-of-district events, under authority of the LPDC
- Oversee the process of Consistently High Performing Teachers as defined by the state for licensure renewal
- Review and approve Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDPs) in PDS, under the authority of the LPDC
- Facilitate training, professional learning, and support sessions on licensure, PDS course requests, IPDPs, CEUs, and quality professional development
- Act as a liaison, alongside the Director, between the Ohio Department of Education and the school district for the licensure renewal requirements through LPDC and the Resident Educator Program, including serving as the Resident Educator Co-Coordinator
- Collaborate with Columbus City Schools’ Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) Program on Resident Educator requirements
- Setup and regularly maintain databases at the district and state level
- Ensure district compliance with state mandates through accurate documentation, record keeping, and reporting of licensure renewal requirements to the Ohio Department of Education
- Maintain knowledge of best practices, trends, and new developments in professional learning
- Develop and maintain effective communication with all district staff regarding proper implementation of the above duties
- Manage special projects as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
MIMINUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; Master’s degree preferred
- Valid Ohio Department of Education license
- Three (3) or more years of experience in a K-12 school district, adult learning, and/or professional office

- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with all levels of district staff, business/community partners, Ohio Department of Education representatives, and others

- Written and computer skills necessary to maintain various departmental records, documents, and reports
- Ability to analyze and summarize data and develop plans of action to address a variety of issues and concerns
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and assignments in a fast-paced environment with time sensitive deliverables
- Ability to preserve confidentiality regarding sensitive matters
- Demonstrated ability to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous, and professional manner
- Demonstrated ability to effectively serve as a leader and member of a team
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Tools/Equipment Use: Desktop PC with keyboard and mouse, laptop, scanner, calculator, software, desk, and adjustable chair.
- Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
- Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 10 pounds)
- Environment: Works in office setting; may require occasional irregular hours and/or prolonged hours.
- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
- Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
