Transportation Driver Job Description, St. Leonard
Job Summary
The Transportation Driver is responsible for providing scheduled and special transportation to all residents of St. Leonard in a safe, comfortable and timely manner.
Department: Transportation Reports to: Transportation Supervisor
Essential Job Specific Duties/Responsibilities
1. Responsible for transporting residents. a. Drives small vans, medium size to large buses on city streets and highways, in and out of parking lots and driveways. b. Assists residents on and off buses. c. Transports staff to and from work during winter storms or other staffing emergencies as required. d. Picks up packages off campus as directed. 2. Responsible for maintenance of all vehicles in department. a. Responsible for daily safety checks. b. Responsible for checking all safety belts on vehicles, fueling of vehicles, proper tire inflation and cleaning vehicles inside and out.
3. Interacts effectively within multi-disciplinary team. a. Assists in scheduling of transportation. b. Reports all accidents and incidents within 24 hours. c. Assists in other departments as requested. d. Assists in keeping the Transportation office neat and clean. e. Professional at all times with residents and fellow staff members. f. Dispatching, replying to emails and answering office phone.
4. Satisfies all educational in-service requirements which are mandated by the Department, the facility and by external accrediting and regulatory agencies. a. Maintains a Safe Driving Record.
b. Responsible for CDL license being up to date. c. Assists in all essential and non-essential duties of department. d. Assists in filling positions in case of absences.
5. Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge and complying with policies and procedures of Infection Control, OSHA, Safety, State and Federal laws, regulations and Resident Rights. a. Adheres to facility policies and procedures. b. Attends in-services and Employee Forums on a regular basis. Must attend provided mandatory Annual fire training. c. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Ohio Highway Regulations. d. Participates in positive customer relations. e. Remains professional in all areas of resident and family contact.
In addition to the essential job specific duties listed above, the Transportation Driver shall be required to perform all duties (essential and non-essential) in a manner consistent with the mission statement and core values (reverence, service and stewardship) of St. Leonard and will be evaluated on such basis. Furthermore, every employee must abide by all campus, departmental and safety policies, rules and regulations.
St. Leonard has the right to change the job specific duties and specifications required for the position of Transportation Driver from time to time without prior notice.
Job Requirements
Education: High school graduate or equivalent, Commercial Driver’s License, Safe Driving Record required. Passport, CPR Certified, Defensive Driving Courses preferred.
