Operations Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
Manages all activities related to Operations; material management, employee supervision, health and safety, building and vehicle maintenance, by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Upholds a polite and courteous demeanor when working with customers and company personnel.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Materials Management
o Liaison with Business Development Manager(s) to schedule daily pickups and collection events.
o Responsible for ensuring accurate entry of all material into the current ERP system.
o Assures that all material is sorted, labeled, stored, and classified correctly.
o Schedules and manages all outbound shipments.
o Perform monthly and or quarterly inventory physical count and reconciliation.
• Plant Management
o Directs and manages operational maintenance needs.
o Interact with Urban Land Conservancy and other tenants with any facility maintenance requirements.
o Ensures that all company assets/equipment are in good working order.
o Establishes routines and measurements to assure that resources are being utilized at optimum efficiency.
• Employee Supervision
o Direct supervision of logistics/production team members and volunteers.
o Manages recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training of direct reports and volunteer.
o Observe and evaluate employee performance; provide guidance on improvement.
• Operations
o Maintain a high level of communication with all company personnel.
o Organize and facilitate meetings as needed.
o Ensures compliance with all environmental, health, and safety standards and regulations; local, state and federal, as well as customer requirements.
o Provides effective leadership by being actively involved in all projects, services, and facility operations; maintain a broad knowledge of all service offerings and clients.
Qualifications
Education, Certifications and/or Experience Required at Entry:
• 2+ Yeas as a Warehouse Manager with direct reports.
• A current Colorado/Illinois driver's license is required.
• Preferred experience working to ISO or EH&S standards.
• Previous experience working with people with disabilities is a strong plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Ability to drive, back in, and park a 16 ft. and 24 ft. box truck.
• Ability to monitor and evaluate employee performance, provide supervision, training and mentoring.
• Skill in reporting, group presentations and effective verbal and written communications.
• Skill in managing multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
• Ability to establish goals and deliver results within established timelines.
Working Conditions and Environmental/Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous materials, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, moderate cold, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand; reach with hands, arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, or kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
